MICR 505 Environmental and Public Health Microbiology 3 Credit Hours

This course provides an understanding of microorganisms within all habitats (soil, water, and air) and their beneficial and detrimental impacts on human health and welfare. Emphasis will be placed on soil/water microbiology (fungi, bacteria, archaea, microalgae, protozoa, and viruses); ecological processes (e.g., decomposition, bioremediation, nutrient cycling, biogeochemistry, and agroecosystems) and microbes of public health significance from environmental exposures and microbiological aspects of the environment as related to human health.
